Consumerism is a social and economic order that encourages the purchase of goods and services in ever-greater amounts.
Sometimes, the term "consumerism" is also used to refer to the consumerists movement, which seeks to protect and inform consumers by requiring such practices as honest packaging and advertising, product guarantees, and improved safety standards. In this sense it is a movement or a set of policies aimed at regulating the products, services, methods, and standards of manufacturers, sellers, and advertisers in the interests of the buyer.
In other words, consumerism, to be used in a context such as our ad, would be the people who watch the advertisement.
For an audience to watch, critic and be interested in the ad would also mean for them to consume the ad. The service that we are offering to them would be an 'honest packaging and advertising' of what to do or not to do during a Ramadhan period.
The consumer is the one who pays to consume the goods and services produced.
So in our context, the consumer will be paying to watch our ads on TV, causing a consumerism act.
5. how different and effective is your idea in relation to culture and consumerism
We hardly see commercials on TV that involve tons of people when it comes to religious festivals. We always see different races wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year, or Selamat Hari Raya, but we seldom get to see a 30 individuals in a single ad, all joined together under a single purpose, which is to educate the youth about Ramadhan, and the things you should and shouldn't do during the time period.
Our idea is different and effective because our information comes in both quality and quantity. It's also rich in culture because of the amount of diversity we can add in because of the amount of people we want involved in the shoot. It also relates very much to consumerism because our target audience is for all ages.
